A luxury cruise is the ideal vacation for many people around the world for obvious reasons. These floating cities embark on epic journeys across the oceans to explore exotic locations that range from the Caribbean islands to the glaciers of Alaska. While often taken for granted, cruise ships are monumental engineering achievements. These boats are essentially mobile resorts that weigh hundreds of thousands of pounds and are able to accommodate thousands of guests. So if you are looking to embark on a cruise, what are some of the best cruise ships that are out there? We are going to look at a list of the top ten cruise ships in the world right now.

Norwegian Getaway

10. The Norwegian Getaway – Norwegian Cruise Line

The Norwegian Getaway is the newest ship from Norwegian Cruise Lines so it features some of the most premium amenities around and everything is also obviously new. The ship comes in at 1,068-feet and there are exactly 2,014 premium guest rooms and suites on board. The ship is based out of Miami and it primarily takes trips to the Caribbean islands.

Norwegian Breakaway

9. The Norwegian Breakaway – Norwegian Cruise Line

The Norwegian Breakaway is the sister ship of the Getaway, however it is its big sister as it was produced in 2013. It is the same length and height as the Getaway, the only difference is that there are 1,994 guest rooms and suites on board this magnificent vessel. The Breakaway calls Manhattan its home port and it primarily makes trips to the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Queen Mary 2

8. The Queen Mary 2 – Cunard

While it is an older ship, the Queen Mary 2 is still one of the best cruise ships in 2015 and it is one of the most iconic modern cruise ships as well. The ship comes in at 1,132-feet and it can accommodate between 2,592 to 3,090 people in total. The Queen Mary 2’s home port is in Southhampton, England and it makes trips to New York and other locations.

7. Independence of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International 

The next two ships on our list are all from the same series, have the same specifications, and pretty much the same features. The Independence of The Seas was constructed in 2008 and it is 1,112-feet in length and it can carry 4,375 people in total. This ship is based out of Florida, and it routinely travels to the Caribbean.

6. Liberty of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International 

The Liberty of The Seas is the sister ship of the Independence and the next ship on our list. As we mentioned these ships are all virtually the same, yet don’t take them for granted as they are all certainly some of the best cruise ships in the entire world.

5. Freedom of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International 

Constructed in 2006, this was the first ship built out of the previous two and it was immediately a smash hit. Royal Caribbean ships are going to pop up a few times on our list. Since they are the largest and one of the most profitable cruise liners in the world, they really can make some incredible vessels.

Norwegian Epic

4. Norwegian Epic – Norwegian Cruise Line

At 1,081-feet, the Norwegian Epic is the largest cruise ship that Norwegian owns and it is certainly an impressive ship. Like the other ships, these floating cities have everything from shopping centers, restaurants, waterparks, and spas and are simply amazing. The Epic can carry 5,183 people in total and it is based out of the Bahamas. The Epic takes trips to the Caribbean but also makes some trips to Europe as well.

3. Quantum of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International

The Quantum of The Seas is the most recent cruise ship from Royal Caribbean and it also offers some of the best accommodations out at sea. The ship is 1,139-feet in length and it can carry 4,905 people in total. The Quantum is registered to the Bahamas and it travels throughout the Caribbean.

Oasis of the seas

2. Oasis of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International 

The next two cruise ships on our list are sister ships, and they are both the largest working ships that are currently in operation. At 1,187-feet and 225,282 gross tonnes, the Oasis is a behemoth of a cruise ship and it can carry 6,296. The Oasis was the first of her class when she was delivered in 2009, and she is certainly one of the best cruise ships in the world.

1. Allure of The Seas – Royal Caribbean International 

As we have already mentioned, the Allure of The Seas is the sister ship to the Oasis, and both ships are virtually the same. The Allure was produced in 2010 and is still one of the nicest cruise ships that you can vacation on to this day.
