Shanghai Disneyland and Luxury Shopping Complex to Open in 2015

Shanghai Disney Resort Groundbreaking Ceremony - April 8, 2011

Anaheim, Orlando, France, Tokyo and now…. Shanghai, China. The Shanghai Disney Resort will feature a Magic Kingdom theme park and two theme hotels adjacent to the park. The CEO of Walt Disney Company said, “With Shanghai Disneyland, we’re creating a one-of-a-kind destination that is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese. We believe this will be one of the most spectacular Disney experiences yet – and an important part of our future. We look forward to opening the gates at the end of 2015 and welcoming the first of the millions of guests who will enjoy Shanghai Disneyland for generations to come.”

The images for the park are absolutely breathtaking. [Click this link to see] Aside from the storybook Castle and other classic Disney features, Shanghai will boast Treasure Cove, a theme area that will feature ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and some distinct Chinese features.

One of the more unique appeals to Shanghai Disneyland is the luxury shopping center being built adjacent to the resort. ‘Shanghai Village’ will be connected to Disneyland via classic Disney transportation links. The 50,000 square meter site will feature plenty of luxury Asian and International brands with some collections selling at discounted prices. The shopping center will be the second outlet in China like it – but has been tabbed as the most important commerce location in China for the future.

Shanghai Disneyland looks poised to be another amazing accomplishment for Disney. We will keep you posted when the park is unveiled.
