You can Spend the Night in a Cable Car Over the Alps

Travel Destination: Zermatt

Airbnb is another modern website and application that has found an interesting and simple way to completely revolutionize the way we do things. The company has been successful in creating a new way to rent rooms for a short term amount of time that is cheaper than most hotels. Whether it’s an extra room in someone’s home or an apartment that doesn’t have a full time tenant, Airbnb allows people to fully utilize whatever space they have and profit off of it. The system is a win win scenario for both parties because the hosts get to make easy money and the guests have a safe and self selected place to stay for however long they need.

More recently, the Airbnb system has been used to offer some super unique getaways to those looking to travel in style. The company”s latest stunt offers people the chance to spend the night in a cable car dangling over the Alps at 2,700 meters in Courchevel. This is Airbnb’s highest listing ever in Europe and is something that can’t be found anywhere else.

The company has taken a Saulire cable car from the Courchevel ski resort and transformed it into a normal looking living space that would be found in any home. The cable car has a bed as well as a living room. One lucky person will win a getaway for a single night in the cable car with the option to bring up to three guests with them. The party will be treated to a nice dinner of cheese and pork fondue. During the night, the cable car will dock at the mountaintop where guests will have access to the station for bathroom needs. To add to the package, it’s guaranteed that the guests will be the first ones on the slopes the next morning.

To enter the contest, people just have to find the listing on Airbnb and write in why they want to spend a night in the cable car. It’s neat to see these trips that money can’t by be offered from Airbnb and it’s a great way for them to promote the service and create publicity.
