Dining in many of the country’s most popular restaurants involves a significant bank balance. Many people might assume that the most expensive restaurants in the country are located in California, but the most expensive is actually located in Manhattan. However, California restaurants aren’t far behind. Five of the most expensive restaurants in the country are located in California. Urasawa Beverly Hills – $488 per person

Located on the famed Rodeo Drive, a meal at Urasawa is going to run diners a minimum of $488 per person. The restaurant is famed for their decadent sushi dishes. The ingredients are flown in fresh from Japan for the executive chef to use to prepare this 29-course meal. The price per person does not include a glass or bottle of wine from the very small wine list – and each wine hails straight from France.

French Laundry Yountville – $297 per person

This gorgeous wine country restaurant is one of the most beautiful in the state. It is situated in a stone building that was constructed at the turn of the century with flowing gardens surrounding the building. It’s truly French. The upscale dining experience at French Laundry includes two prix-fixe menus and it takes at least two months to get a reservation at this restaurant. The price does not include drinks, and jackets are a requirement.

The Kitchen Sacramento – $163 per person

This restaurant offer a seven course meal with an intermission. Each act presents you with a decadent piece of culinary artwork. The meal costs $163 per person, and does not include the wine flight that must be purchased separately. Executive Chef John Griffiths creates a nightly course so divine it will take you several months to find a reservation.

Meadowood Napa Valley – $163 per person

Located in the breathtaking Meadowood Resort, the views and the food are some of the best in the state. The menu features all California-found ingredients and serves three meals a day to guests and diners. Choosing to sit outside on the deck is going to offer you the most expansive view of the valley, which is highly recommended. The price does not include any alcohol.

Saam at the Bazaar by Jose Andres Los Angeles – $156 per person

It’s been described as a once in a lifetime kind of meal featuring more than 22 courses of decadent culinary genius. The experience is $156 per person and does not include wine, but you can purchase the wine pairing to go along with your meal if you choose. There is a full bar and a prix-fixe menu available, as well as private dining rooms for those who don’t want to dine with the general public.
