Rupert Murdoch Sells Beverly Hills Estate for $30 Million

Rupert Murdoch Delivers Keynote At The National Summit On Education Reform

Rupert Murdoch is an extremely wealthy business mogul who inherited a news business from his father back in the 50’s and evolved it to the next level which became very successful. He is also the CEO of 21st Century Fox and was personally valued at $14.9 billion in 2014. At 84 years old, Murdoch has decided to sell his Beverly Hills home to his youngest son, but still brought in $30 million for the property.

Although one of the sons would have eventually inherited the property, James Murdoch decided he wanted the beautiful estate now and was willing to pay good money for it. Murdoch is happy that the house will be staying in the family after it was listed for sale last year. Many celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, showed a good amount of interest in the mansion, nobody ever committed to buying it. Upon discovering that his own son wanted to purchase the property, Murdoch pulled it from the market so nobody would outbid or swipe up the property.

The house was originally built back in 1926 and was designed by Wallace Neff. The first and original owners were film director Fred Niblo and his wife, Enid Bennett. There is a massive 3.3 acres of land on the estate and the home itself is 8,651 square feet with eleven bedrooms and nine full bathrooms. There is a nice sized swimming pool and a circular driveway for cars to pull around in with plenty of space for guests to use when they come over.

Murdoch has plenty of other properties, so it’s no surprise that he was looking to sell this Beverly Hills one. He stays full time at this home in Moraga Vineyards which is located in Bel Air and worth just under $29 million. At least Murdoch knows that the home is going to a good owner in his own son and will be taken care of well.
