You Can Now Rent the “Fifty Shades of Grey” Apartment

"Fifty Shades Of Grey" New York Fan First Screening

50 Shades of Grey was released this past weekend and brought in amazing box office numbers. The movie that is sparking controversy everywhere has plenty of loyal followers that would love to experience the film anyway they can in real life. Now, thanks to Airbnb, fans have the chance rent the amazing luxury apartment that belongs to the main character, Christian Grey, in the film.

The apartment listing for the condo is in part being used to promote the film release, but will definitely draw people to renting the upscale place that’s located in Seattle. The building complex is called the Escala and is the location that the film used to house the millionaire. The apartment is not cheap to rent, costing $257 a night with guests being required to stay for three nights at a minimum, but would be a dream come true for many people. The building is very nice and not cheap either, with room prices beginning at $1 million for a base apartment.

Despite Airbnb believing they had stumbled on a great promotional idea that would end up bringing them a lot of money, the post was eventually taken down because the Escala does not allow for short term rentals and violates the ownership agreement. Despite 50 Shades fans getting completely hung up on thinking they had a chance to experience a part of the film in the real world, the dream was snatched away before they could book their stay.

While this would have probably brought in a lot of quick and easy profit for both Airbnb and the Escala complex, the building needs to prioritize the happiness of their long term high paying residents. The apartment is extremely nice, and one of the more expensive units in the building, so avoiding this offer also ensures that the condo will stay fresh and not risk having damage done to it.
