Paddington Bear is a popular character from a series of children’s literature. The character was created by Michael Bond and illustrated by Peggy Fortnum back in 1958. While Paddington Bear is English in his origins, the 70 plus stories that he is featured in have been translated in over 30 languages and distributed throughout the world. Like many other children’s characters, Paddington Bear dolls, figurines, and toys have been created over the years. Paddington Bear is so popular that they are even giving him a feature length film that will come out recently. Well as of recently a very special version of Paddington Bear has been created and sold in an auction recently, and it is like no other.

A set of 50 unique Paddington Bear figurines have recently been sold in an auction in Britain recently to benefit the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children. All of the Paddington Bear’s were unique and designed by some of the best artist from Great Britain. One of the most memorable versions was one that was designed and created by Rolls-Royce. Giles Taylor, who is the lead director of design over at Rolls-Royce, took charge of this special iteration of Paddington Bear. This custom made version of Paddington Bear featured a brown leather duffle jacket, old-fashion racing goggles, a suitcase, and an aviators hat. Known as the “Spirit of Paddington” which pays homage to Rolls-Royce’s famous hood-ornament known as the “Spirit of Ecstasy”. This version of Paddington Bear was sold to the famous artist Tracey Emin for an undisclosed amount. Emin graciously donated the bear back to the NSPCC so it could be put on display. This special version of Paddington Bear helped push and attract potential buyers to give money to the NSPCC, as the brief “partnership” between an iconic British children’s character and automobile manufacturer was a superb way to generate interest and the auction was a great success.
