Butterfly Brooch will Highlight Sotheby’s Hong Kong Auction

When it comes to high fashion and style, most people immediately think of Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the iconic Carrie Bradshaw on the hit series “Sex and the City,” as well as in the movies that came later. The actress is the epitome of style, and she’s bringing her fabulous fashion sense to Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction on October 7 by way of the Ballerina Butterfly.

The actress has been working with a famous jewelry designer from Taiwan by the name of Cindy Chao to create an exclusive brooch to auction, and it’s expected to be the hit of the auction. Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Sale is just a few weeks away, and shoppers are already looking to big on this gorgeous butterfly.

The piece will be part of the Black Label Masterpiece Butterfly collection created by Chao, which is a personal favorite of the designer. She created this line to recognize her own personal transformation as an artist, and this is the first piece she’s collaborated on with an individual, and she and Parker are thrilled with the outcome.

The Ballerina Butterfly has a slim body and legs that are carefully turned to mimic that of a lovely dancer. It features 26.27 carats worth of brown and yellow diamonds, and it has more than 47-carats in brown diamonded slices. It also features pink conch pearls, colored diamonds and several other intricately designed items. The butterfly is estimated to be worth anywhere from $750,000 to $950,000. If it’s anything like the items that usually sell at Sotheby’s auctions, it will sell for far more than it’s estimated to be worth, which will help to raise the value significantly.

All proceeds from the Hong Kong auction are being used to support the New York City Ballet, which is another reason the artist and actress designed a butterfly like a ballerina.
