Incredibly Rare Disneyland Artifacts Are Up for Auction

Disneyland Artifacts

Disneyland is almost as much a shopping mall as it is a theme park, but rarely do you get the opportunity to actually buy the building blocks of The Happiest Place on Earth. Now, 60 years after the first Disney park opened to the public, hundreds of historical artifacts from both Disneyland and Disney World are up for auction at Van Eaton Galleries in Los Angeles.   There are over 30 items up for auction ranging from old coloring books, maps, photos, and even some old equipment and props from the famous theme park.  The picture you see above is an employee hand book of sorts that goes back nearly 40 years.

In 1980, Disneyland and Disney World gave its new employees a 48-page book packed with Walt’s wise words on a variety of topics, with the hopes that newbies could better acclimate to the company’s unique culture.  You can also purchase this map of Magic Kingdom.

When Disney World finally opened in 1971, it was a revelation — but still much smaller than the vacation empire it has become (and just wait for Star Wars land!).

You can view all of the listings at Van Eaton Galleries.  And thanks to Jordan Zakarin at Yahoo! for the find!
