Why Portrait Roma is the Place to Stay in Rome

Rome is known for so many things, including being at the top of my list of places to go when my kids are old enough for me and my husband to go away for more than just three or four days at a time without them. It’s probably a little more well-known for being an Italian city with amazing shopping, decadent food and gorgeous views. The history in Rome is so expansive and so rich that it’s impossible not to want to go and visit some of the most beautiful landmarks in the world. What really makes Rome so spectacular is that there are so many luxury hotels in which you can call home during your visit. Every major brand is located here and while they are all beautiful and all worth a visit, there is one hotel that is a luxury hotel that has just a bit more to offer you than many of the others in the city.

Portrait Roma is not what you might expect from a luxury hotel. In fact, it’s so much more. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and we are in love. It’s luxury, but it’s not like any luxury you’ve seen before; and that’s why I’m dying to share this amazing discovery with you. Portrait Roma is an all-suite hotel, but not like a hotel.

It’s more like a mansion with big suites that all have their own sitting areas, and ample space. But unlike a usual ‘suite’ hotel you might find along the side of the interstate for a few bucks a night, this place is all luxury, all the time. Even the Portrait Studio, the smallest room in the bunch, is a suite with all the space, the beautiful views and everything you might imagine in a suite hotel. It’s spacious, and that’s what we love. To add even more to that, it’s spacious with serious style. Each room features a wall-mounted flat screen television with marble bathrooms, upscale linens and leather upholstery. Many of the rooms feature private terraces that overlook Via Condotti.

Even better are the ones that feature a private sauna. However, as magnificent as these rooms truly are, it’s the Penthouse Trinita dei Monti we want you to book. It’s spectacular in a way that words will not describe. A wooden deck with a solid wall for protection, beautiful greenery and a lovely sitting area and dining area wrap around this gorgeous top-floor suite offering the most breathtaking views of Rome. It also has its own fitness room and sauna on top of the living room and the bedroom. It is also quite large at 861-square feet inside.

Each room features Bang & Olufsen LCD televisions, a Bose Bluetooth sound system, charging safes for Apple Watch and iPhones, a Mini iPad with 3G wireless capabilities and DVD player. All the products in each bathroom are created by luxury designer Salvatore Ferragamo and comes with a shaving kit, a Marvis Mouthwash and a hair straightener, shoe shine kit and more.

When it comes to upscale dining, you are not missing out here. So many other lesser suite hotels do not offer restaurants and bars, and it is quite the letdown. The Portrait Roma, however, does; you’ll find the Portrait Bar in your room with the ability to restock it as many times a day as you’d like. You will also find you have a small kitchenette in your room, no matter which room you choose. While you will not find a restaurant or bar onsite, but you will find a rooftop terrace that serves a beautiful breakfast buffet with a view of the city in the background. You will also find that in-room dining is exquisite, and you can order anything you want from a cocktail during cocktail hour to afternoon tea, and the Portrait Roma staff will cater to your every which need, including any special requests you might have.

To stay here, you do not have to think long and hard. It’s an obvious choice for anyone who wants luxury at the drop of a hat. Rooms begin at only $629 per night depending on the season in Rome, and that is not all that much for a 5-star luxury hotel. Booking a room here the next time you are in the city is just a genius move. After all, when in Rome…
