Hong Kong Chef Vicky Lau is Rated Asia’s Best

Chef Vicky Lau

The restaurant business is ever changing and chefs seem to be coming and going. Customers are always seeking out the top restaurants and chefs that can prepare them the best and most delicious meals possible and are willing to pay top price for it. Vicky Lau has been named the top chef within all of Asia due to her Hong Kong based French-Asian restaurant that truly shows how cuisine can be a craft unique to each chef.

Lau is known for taking her dishes to the next level by creating “edible stories” that are unlike anything seen before. The chef was declared the best by Veuve Clicquot who absolutely love her Michelin star restaurant the Tate Dining Room and Bar. The eatery is quite small, only having 26 total seats,  but is always booked because people want to try and see Lau’s plates. Lau has a background as a graphic designer and artist which allows her to transition that love to her food and create these “edible stories.” The dishes are given a title and the food is interestingly crafted and created around the title with the foods being specifically placed on the plate  to form something. The style is neat and a way that Lau has been able to establish her own style and feel in an industry that is relatively repetitive. Chefs always try to make their plates look nice, but nobody has ever gone above and beyond like Lau has with the idea of creativity.

Lau’s restaurant is very exclusive due to its small size; people recognize the skill and artistry that goes into making these dishes. She has earned this award do to her imagination and originality which have both contributed to her fresh take on cuisine. She has a love and appreciation for art and food and has discovered an amazing way to combine those passions.
