Wine and champagne seems like a product that is always being purchased because they are used for so many social and private events by all types of people. People are always drinking alcohol no matter what the state of the economy is like and the market is consistently being populated with new brands that are both affordable and expensive, offering a wide variety of different choices for the customers. Throughout the past couple of years these sales have been experiencing a surprising downward trend, but 2014 changed all of that and wine and champagne were on the rise once again.

Champagne sales were the category that saw the major drop within the past few years and the market was starting to dry up. This wasn’t due to a lack of the product but more of customer interest for some reason. 2014 was able to change everything when champagne sales saw a massive increase to what ended up being a record setting year for the alcoholic beverage. In 2014, 308 million bottles of champagne were purchased worldwide which earned the title of being the second highest total amount ever. That much champagne translates to around $5.1 million in total which is a big increase from 2013’s total of $4.8 million.

This monetary amount was the second highest in champagne sales since 2007. The industry is continuing to surge and experts are anticipating that in 2015 the numbers will only see more of a growth. It’s being predicted that for the first time ever, more champagne will be exported from France than the amount consumed within the country. The United States, Japan and Australia are the three top countries fueling this trend and happen to have the three fastest growing champagne markets right now. The demand is high for champagne and shows that people have money to spend, which is good for economies all around the world.
