Wearable technology is really the field to be in right now as it seems there’s a new smartwatch or a pair of virtual reality goggles coming out almost everyday. Sure we’ve seen some of the big players in the industry of wearable technology making great products, but let’s take a look at something a bit smaller. Seemingly for the first time ever, there now is a smart wallet and it looks pretty cool.
Kickstarter is always a great place to find the newest gadgets and gizmos, and this smart wallet from Mijlo is one of the newest products posted on the crowd-funding site. The company is calling it the “Where’s Wallet” and it seems to be the first smart wallet ever. They are calling it “the smart wallet you’ll never lose”. So what does it do? The wallet has a super small microchip in the bottom corner that allows the wallet to pair with a smartphone. Once you pair the wallet with your device via their app, you’re all set to go. The app has a variety of features to help you find your wallet should it go missing. You start out by setting a distance for an alert. So, for example, when you walk 50 feet away from your wallet that you left behind, your phone will send you a notification and help you retrace your steps. Additionally you can also view the last location your wallet was via a map. These little features should ensure that you never loose your wallet again. The microchip has a small battery in it that lasts 10 months, however there is no information from the company on what to do when it dies.
The Where’s Wallet will be available at a few different styles, at different price points. If you back $49 dollars you get the “Slip” wallet (seen on the left), for $69 dollars you get a traditional bi-fold wallet, and for $99 dollars you can get a small wallet/purse. The Kickstarter so far has been successfully. There are still 33 days to go and they have already raised $20,694 dollars of their goal of $30,000 dollars.
