The Most Expensive Graduate Degrees in the United States

A college education doesn’t come cheap. It’s one of the most expensive things you’ll ever purchase, but it’s also something that will pay off in the long run. Unlike an expensive vacation that might make you culturally richer, your higher education will actually make you richer. Except, of course, if you spend decades paying off your student loans, like you might if you get one of the most expensive degrees available.

MBA from Columbia University –  $317,000

It’s the third most selective university in the country, but it’s the oldest university in New York. Founded in 1754, this Ivy League university was attended by 3 presidents, numerous famous people and many Nobel Prize winners. It’s not easy to get into Columbia but if you do and you choose to shoot for your MBA, it’s going to cost you over $317,000. This makes it one of the most expensive college degrees in the world.

Law Degree from Vanderbilt University  – $375,600

Located in Nashville, Vandy is one of the schools with the most expensive degrees available. This school only accepts around 12 percent of students that apply to the school. It was founded by the South Methodist Episcopal Church in the 1870s and cut ties with the church in the early 1900s. It’s known for its impressive medical center as well as being one of the biggest employers in the state. It’s also known for its expensive law degree, which will set you back approximately $375,600.

History and Law Degree Sarah Lawrence College –  $403,000

In 1926, the founder of Sarah Lawrence built this all female school and named it after his wife. In 1968, the school welcomed its first male students. Located in New York, this formerly all female school is not inexpensive. It’s also one of the universities with the highest number of students who benefit from financial aid. To obtain a graduate degree in history and law at Sarah Lawrence, prepare yourself to pay $403,000.

My kids love to whine, so I love to wine. My loves include nap time, bed time, date night, travel and evenings and weekends when my husband is home because he handles all diaper changes.
