The Most Expensive Fitness Trackers

NikeFuel Forum

Within the last year fitness trackers have become a popular work out accessory for everyone from serious athletes to on again – off again gym goers.  These electronic gadgets usually come in the form of a watch or bracelet and are capable of providing up to date information on the wearer’s activity and movement.  With their increasing popularity, companies are finding new ways to keep their fitness trackers innovative and competitive; some models are now including heart rate sensors, built in display, and the ability to share and compare data between users. A fitness tracker can be a great way to give yourself a goal and hold yourself accountable, but with so many on the market it’s hard to know which one to choose.  Here is a list of the most expensive fitness trackers.

5. Fitbit Flex $100

Although the The Fitbit Flex does not have a built in display, it is still one of the most popular fitness trackers on the market.  This wristband can track activity in the form of steps, distance, and calories burned; this flexible wristband can also monitor  sleep patterns and can serve as an alarm with its built in vibration.  However, since there is no built in display users will have to sync the device to a smartphone in order to review their results.

4. The Runtastic Orbit $120

The Runtastic Orbit is relatively new to the market and can be purchased in eight different colors.  This lightweight plastic wristband is waterproof up to 300 feet and only needs to be charged once a week; The Runtastic Orbit can also be synced with a series of Runtastic smartphone apps.

3.  Garmin Vivofit  $130

This fitness band from Garmin makes good use of the company’s GPS technology.  The Vivofit allows users to make, and keep track of, daily goals as well as reminding users when they have been inactive for too long.  One feature that sets this fitness tracker apart from its competitors is the one year of battery life that it boasts – that’s right- users can wear this device for a full year without having to replace the battery..

2. Nike Fuelband SE $150

The Nike Fuelband SE is a follow up to Nike’s original Fuelband; while this second edition welcomes back a number of the original features it also has a longer battery life and a more accurate accelerometer.  Unlike other devices, Nike has it’s own way of measuring activity: Fuel Points; while it is unclear how these points are measured, they are tracked and recorded daily so that users may see their progress.  Users can also use the Fuelband app to see how they match up with friends; however, unfortunately for Android users, Nike’s Fuelband SE (and original) are only compatible with iOS

1. TomTom Multi-Sport GPS Watch $200

TomTom’s Multi-Sport watch is great for serious athletes looking to track their progress.  This device has a large display screen and can be used while running, walking, or swimming (in pools – does not work in open water) and also allows you to compete against yourself. Users can use this device in conjunction with the popular MyFitness apps as well as with TomTom’s heart rate monitor.
