A Quick Look at The New BMW M4 GTS Concept Car

BMW’s “M” version of their cars make up their more performance-oriented versions. They feature more powerful engines, carbon-fiber parts, racing suspensions, and a variety of other cool features that make them loved by countless car fans. They are some of the best cars that can be used on the track, and then for everyday use. Of all their M vehicles, the M4 is arguably one of their best, and a personal favorite of mine.

So what happens when you take a performance version of a car, and then tune it up even more? Well it would look exactly like the new M4 GTS Concept that BMW has recently shown off, and we’ve got to admit, it looks incredible.

BMW has teased this new car ahead of its official debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California this year. They took the normal M4 and then added a bunch of new features to make this car an absolutely behemoth on the track. This car is all about racing, but make-no-mistake, it will be street legal as well. So besides the fact that it looks like it should be in the next Fast and Furious movie, what does this car potentially have to offer?

This car has been developed on racetracks around the world to be a truly incredible vehicle. While they have just teased the vehicle and we don’t know all the exact specifications, the M4 GTS Concept seems very promising. BMW have added an ingenious water injection system into the engine. This system will spray water vapor into both the intake valves and the engine’s cylinders as well. The water will cool down the mixture of oxygen and fuel before it is ignited. This allows the engine to remain cooler and allows for more optimal levels of combustion. In effect, it will boost not only the efficiency of the engine, but the overall power as well. BMW have also added very interesting OLED lights to the tail lights. Apparently this will allow for a range of different lighting effects, allowing the driver to indicate if they’re stopping, turning left, backing up, or making a u-turn, for example. The lights are highly-customizable, and can display a range of different effects and colors.

The other changes include an adjustable front splitter and a rear spoiler, which are both made from high-quality carbon-fiber. We find other parts on this car made from carbon fiber as well, including both the roof and the hood. The front wheels are made from alloy and measure out to be 19-inches while the rear tires measure out at 20-inches. Outside of those details, we don’t know all that much as of right now. They have only just teased the car. We don’t know what engine BMW will be using, but the standard M4 has a 3.0-liter, TwinPower turbocharged inline-six engine that offers 425 hp. I think it’s safe to assume that they will be using either this engine, or a tuned version that offers even more power. The standard car accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, which already was impressive. I would imagine that this version is even better, given what it has to offer.

However the most important detail about this car is that, despite its name, BMW will be making a production version of this car that’s nearly identical, if not exactly the same. So while only one exists as of this moment, come 2016, that will all change. We look forward to seeing the official launch of this car and what it has to offer. All things point towards this vehicle being absolutely amazing, and I’d love to drive one. It seems as though it will be a race car that is also comfortable for day-to-day use, and what’s not to love about that?
