There are very few people in the world who look at Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, and Bugatti’s and ask themselves the question “but is there more?”. While most people would be satisfied with one of those vehicles, some are not. When 0-60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds is just “too slow for you” then check out the amazing supercar known as the Zonda R by Pagani.
Pagani describes the Zonda R as not just “a” supercar, but “the” supercar. This is the first model produced by the Italian supercar company when it opened up its doors in 1992, and the newest iterations of this vehicle is on the brink of performing like an F1 car, only it has all the features of a luxury supercar.
First off, the entire body of the car is made from lightweight, high-tech carbon fiber. Pagani wanted to make this car as fast as possible, so they needed to make it very lightweight as supercars are typically heavy due to their large engines, and the Zonda’s engine is large. Under the hood, it has an AMG 6.0 litre V12 high performance racing engine that provides the vehicle with 750 horses and about 524 pounds-feet of torque. While there are more powerful engines out there, this engine combined with the fact that the Zonda R only weighs 2,358 pounds allows it to accelerate from 0-60 milers per hour in around 2.6 seconds. That is just insanely fast. This car can easily crush superbikes in terms of acceleration and it has a top speed of 217 miles per hour. The gearbox is also extremely advanced and it only takes 20 milliseconds to change gears.
The interior of the vehicle is pretty utilitarian and functional. While its not a Roll-Royce on the inside, it is still pretty cool and it works for the car. Piloting this car is an experience like no other. It’s not only designed to just go really fast in one straight line, but also to tear up corners and the track thanks to its advanced suspension and steering. This car outperforms nearly all other supercars out there, so it is pretty befitting for Pagani to call it “the supercar”. The Zonda R’s are produced in limited runs of only 15 and can cost anywhere between $1.65 to $3 million dollars depending on the specifications.
