When you think of luxury automobiles, brands like Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, or Audi probably come to mind. Most people wouldn’t think of Ford as a car manufacturer that is known for their luxury vehicle offerings. That’s not to say that they don’t have luxurious cars, you just don’t generally associate the words “Ford” and “luxury” with each other. And you certainly don’t think of a pickup truck as a luxury automobile. Well all of that has changed as Ford has recently announced a new vehicle. It’s called the Ford F-150 Limited, and it may be the most luxurious pickup truck ever made. Ford is going all-out with this model, and as someone that doesn’t care for trucks at all, I have to admit that it looks pretty amazing.
You can purchase a new F-150 for about $26,000 dollars or so, which is a great deal considering what it has to offer. But would you spend $60,000 to $70,000 dollars on a pickup truck? Well that’s potentially how much this new F-150 could cost. That’s a lot of money for a truck. You could buy an E-Class Mercedes with options for that kind of money. So what exactly makes this truck so expensive? Getting the obvious out of the way first, the F-150 Limited will feature a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that is ideal for toeing your speed boat or hauling a camper. It will potentially perform comparable to other high-end trucks, which isn’t saying much. But it’s a pickup truck, you don’t buy this vehicle to go fast or race in. On the outside it looks like your standard F-150, minus the “Limited” badges that are found on the car. However, it is what’s found on the inside of this truck that counts.
Ford has upped their game significantly with interior design, and this new F-150 certainly looks good on the inside. This truck is all about not only being functional, but extremely luxurious and comfortable as well. We’re talking about massive leather seats with built-in massaging systems, an advanced entertainment system, a 360-degree camera system, 10 different speakers, an adaptive cruise control/lane assist system, an intelligent trailer hitch control unit, and more. It even has a real wood trim, the same wood that is actually used in Bentley’s. No, seriously. I’ve never seen a truck like this before, and have to admit that it looks pretty cool.
The interior cabin is not only extremely luxurious, it’s absolutely huge. Just look at all of that legroom that you can get not only in the front seats, but the rear seats as well. This F-150 aims to offer many of the comforts and features found on high-end luxury sedans in addition to all the benefits a truck can provide, and it looks like Ford is doing a pretty good job at that. So not only can this vehicle haul up to 10,000 pounds of weight, it can do so while keeping the occupants of the vehicle extremely comfortable.
Okay, so who is this truck for? Typically people that actually need pickup trucks for their jobs don’t need all of these nice features, and probably don’t want them. A contractor wouldn’t want to get this vehicle messed up or dirty. This truck is for the consumer that needs a vehicle that can pull a great amount of weight, without compromising luxury features. For example, like a retired couple that enjoy taking their speedboat out on the ocean. With this F-150 Limited you get all of the benefits of a pickup truck, and many of the benefits that are associated with luxury automobiles. While it is going to be very expensive for a pickup truck, it’s arguably the world’s first luxury pickup truck. So if you’re someone that wants to take their camper around the country in style, this is the vehicle to get.
