The New Bond Car Is Pretty Much An Aston Martin Vantage

The Aston Martin DB10

In case you were not aware, Aston Martin recently revealed the new vehicle that was to be used for the upcoming James Bond film titled “SPECTRE”. Aston Martin called it the DB10, and it certainly seems like an exciting new vehicle from the company. The stylistic feature of the vehicle are definitely cutting edge and are forward thinking.

The vehicle also came out not only to commemorate the new Bond flick, but also as an anniversary present of sorts to commemorate 50 years of Aston Martin collaborating with the James Bond franchise. The Aston Martins have been an icon in in practically all Bond flicks, so you think this limited edition vehicle that commemorates that special bond would be fantastic right? Well, maybe not quite so.

Aston Martin announced that this new vehicle will essentially be the foundation for their new “platform” of future vehicles. They have certainly made the car very attractive in my opinion. I really enjoy the way this vehicle is designed, and Aston Martin exclaims that “The DB10 gives a glimpse to the future design direction for the next generation of Aston Martins”. So don’t get me wrong, I enjoy looking at this car. However underneath it? Well theres nothing new.

Instead of developing a new car system and foundation for the DB10, this vehicle is essential an Aston Martin V8 Vantage that just looks different on the outside. No really, its pretty much the same vehicle on the inside. It would definitely have been more exciting to see one of their newer engines that they are working on with Mercedes-AMG, however no such luck. So while this is a “new” car, it is only really a new vehicle in terms of appearance, while the rest of it is a V8 Vantage.

Only ten of these vehicles have been produced and all of them are currently being used for film of the new Bond. While the vehcile perhaps is not as exciting as initially thought, I like the direction that they are going with in terms of design. Since Aston Martin said this was their platform for future vehicles, it will be nice to see future Astons that are designed similarly to this but with updated features.
