There are some changes coming for the reigning DTM manufacturers’ champions. This year, the brand new BMW M4 DTM will take the place of the successful BMW M3 DTM. During the The 2013 racing season, the M3 car went out on a high when Timo Glock won the final race of the season. It was the 51st victory of the BMW M3 in the touring car series. Not only were the victories a big plus but Marco Wittmann was also the Rookie of the Year, Augusto Farfus was second in the drivers’ title race and BMW, with five wins, was on the top step of the podium more than either of its competitors. So let’s just say that BMW had quite the year in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters).
This year BMW will be fielding 4 teams in the DTM: BMW Team MTEK, BMW Team RBM, BMW Team RMG and BMW Team Schnitzer. There have also been a couple of changes to its driver line-up. Farfus, Joey Hand, Bruno Spengler and Martin Tomczyk will each be there for their third seasons, Glock and Wittmann a second season and Maxime Martin and António Félix da Costa will be making their DTM debuts. Martin is receiving a promotion from test driver to team driver. Way to go Martin.
