The Aston Martin “Super Saloon” Lagonda Is Back

Aston Martin Lagonda

The Aston Martin Lagonda was a vehicle that the company produced from 1974-1990. The vehicle was a massive four-door saloon car that was a bit different from what the company normally produced. The company pretty much has always been known for their two-door sport and GT cars, yet during the 1970’s they figured they would make a four-door saloon, which in my opinion was one of their worst looking vehicles ever, I mean just look at it:

I honestly have no clue what Aston Martin was thinking when they designed this vehicle back in the day. Just take a look on their website and look at all of their older models, this is honestly the worst looking vehicle by a long shot. Regardless, Aston Martin has decided to bring life back to the Lagonda and is planning to release a new one sometime in 2015 in an extremely limited quantity.

With the new Aston Martin Lagonda we see some definite design improvements, and it is an overall much better looking car. Aston Martin is calling their new Lagonda a “super saloon”, as the vehicle will be packed to the brim with power. While information on the new Lagonda is still hazy, we do expect Aston Martin to throw in a 6.0 liter V12 engine that was used in the Aston Martin Rapide.

We do know that the vehicle will pretty much be entirely built by hand at their factory in Gaydon, England in similar ways that they built their exclusive One-77. For those looking to get their hands on the new Lagonda, you better hold on. Unfortunately, Aston Martin is only going to produce a “limited amount” of these vehicles and sell them via an invite-only system, to just Middle Eastern consumers. I’m not entirely sure why Aston is doing this, however they did say that they plan to produce more coach built cars in the future. Honestly, I still think I would rather have any other Aston Martin currently on the market than the Lagonda, but maybe that’s just me.
