1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti Estimated To Fetch $30-$34 Million at Auction

A very rare and prized Ferrari 355 S Spider Scaglietti from 1957 will head to auction in February where it is expected to sell for anywhere between $30 and $34 million dollars. Out of all the various cars that are sold at auction, classic Ferrari’s easily make up the vast majority of the most expensive ones, and this vehicle will be up there with the rest should it hit those numbers.

Artcurial Motorcars will be hosting their Retromobile Auction in Paris which starts on February 5th, which will contain this Ferrari 355 S Spider Scaglietti, in addition to many other expensive and rare classic cars. Ferrari originally produced this car back in 1957 and the body was provided by the renowned Italian coach builder Scaglietti. This particular Ferrari 355 S Spider Scaglietti was entered into numerous races back in the day, like the Sebring 12 Hours, the Mille Miglia, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, among other races.

The vehicle originally featured a 3.8-liter V12 Tipo 140 engine that produced 360 bhp in total, which was extremely fast at the time. The Ferrari was then later upgraded to a 4.0-liter V12 that produced some 400 horsepower in total, allowing the car to hit speeds of 186 mph. In addition to have been entered in many races, this Ferrari 355 S Spider Scaglietti was operated by many famous racing drivers like Mike Hawthorn, Luigi Musso, Masten Gregory, and even Stirling Moss, for example.

So not only is this a classic and rare Ferrari, it’s one that has a rich racing history as well. This Ferrari is expected to be the highlight of the Retromobile Auction and I can easily see it selling for somewhere between those estimates, if not even more.
