Mercedes-AMG has recently unveiled a brand new vehicle, and it is shaping up to be pretty incredible. Mercedes-AMG is a division of Mercedes-Benz that concerns itself with high-performance vehicles. Mercedes-AMG has designers and engineers that work independently from Mercedes-Benz. Typically they take an existing Mercedes model where they modify and tune the vehicle into a super-powered vehicle. However, every now and then Mercedes-AMG designs a car from the ground up, and they are typically amazing. The all new 2016 AMG GT S is one of those cars.
This amazing new vehicle is based off of no existing Mercedes-Benz car, and is completely its own thing. The New Mercedes-AMG GT S marks the second vehicle that Mercedes-AMG has produced entirely on its own. This vehicle proves just how important Mercedes-AMG is to its big brother, and hopefully more are to come. The vehicle is on track to be delivered to showrooms in the United States in the spring of 2015, as is expected to start at $150,000 dollars.
The GT S looks somewhat similar to an SLS, but the subtle differences are noticeable. This two-seater sport car is not only smaller than the SLS, but lighter as well as it is has an aluminum space-frame construction. In the front of the car we find a brand new 4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that powers this bad boy. This is the first time AMG has put twin turbochargers in an one of their cars, and it helps the engine deliver 503 horsepower and 479 ft-lbs of torque. Combine that powerful engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a front-to-rear weight distribution of 47/53, and you have a pretty incredible car on your hands. The car has a top speed of 193 and an estimated zero to sixty time of 3.7 seconds.
The interior of the GT S is roomy too. Being a Mercedes it is still luxurious, while retaining the sporty-ness that AMG brings us. For some the red leather might be too much, but don’t worry you can change that. At the end of the day AMG has delivered yet another amazing vehicle that will surely please any car fans. While $150,000 dollars is still expensive, considering what this car is, and what it can do, it has a really attractive price tag.
