For $12,700 This Questa by Calabarte isn’t Your Ordinary Table Lamp

New Calabarte gourd lamp

Calabarte is a young Polish based artist that has steered his artistic abilities towards creating some wonderfully crafted and complex lamp designs. Each of his lamps are one of a kind and normally come carved out of dried gourd; the lamps are styled and carved depending on the nature of the material, but each of them looks truly amazing. His latest work is a table lamp labeled as “XXI Questa” (pictured above), is catching everyone’s eye and continues to display the talent of the artists as well as the quality of his work.

The XXI Questa has a very detailed and complicated pattern that looks like a maze with all of its differing lines going in every direction. The new lamp continues to show how creatively light can be output from the inside of the design. The head is made from Senegalese calabash and has diameters of 26 and 23 cm. The base end is made from wood with a 1cm thick gourd, while the lamp itself stands up to a height of 49 cm. The top of the lamp is sealed and locked by mini magnets, which creates an easy access point to clean the art piece.

Calabarte has been crafting these lamps since back in 2009 and they have been growing in popularity since then. Now there is a global interest in his work and everyone wants to get their hands on one, especially because the artist only makes 34 lamps each year, preferring to produce high quality products that display the perfection of his craft. The complex designs of his lamps take time and patience to make and he also wants none to be the same, which is another reason collectors want to purchase his lamps; because they are one of a kind. Calabarte still lives and makes the lamps in Poland, but he is selling them to people all around the world and continues to see more anticipation and success with his most recent XXI Questa lamp, which was on sale September 27th for $12,700.
