50 Cent Testifies that his Lavish Lifestyle Was all Fake

Last week we reported on 50 Cent declaring bankruptcy.  This week more and more details are coming out about his “lavish” lifestyle and finances.  Yesterday, July 22, Curtis Jackson was in court to discuss his finances as he is faced with a $5 million dollar lawsuit.  Jackson, 40, appeared in Manhattan to discuss a number of things, one of them being that his lavish lifestyle was completely fake.

While 50 is famous for rapping about success and wealth, it turns out that this was all a lie.  The New York Daily News reports that 50 said in his session at the Manhattan Supreme Court that his image is manufactured. “It’s entertainment,” he said of the over-the-top lifestyle he promotes in his music videos, on social media, and in interviews — one that includes nights in swanky clubs, rides in luxury cars, and stacks upon stacks of cash.

Jackson revealed that he doesn’t own most of the cars that it appears he does.  Among those are his famous Bentley and Ferrari.   Jackson says, “Those cars were rented.” He also said that he “borrowed” much of his other swag, including diamond jewelry

The rapper says he only has “a few gold chains” officially to his name, and explains that he’s paid 10 cents per record for his music sales.   He only took home totals in the low six figures for his recent big-screen appearances in Spy and Southpaw.

“I need protection,” he said on Conan of his filing. “You look like you’re doing okay… I gotta be frank with you… You know, you get a bullseye pinned on my back. When you’re successful, and you’re publicly known, you become the ideal person for people to have lawsuits for.”

Let’s see how the rest of this story plays out.
